Tech Conference Recap - ASCII Anaheim

Our team is back from ASCII's first show of the year in Anaheim and we’ve got some highlights to share with you!

The ASCII IT Success Summits are a series of conferences held around the U.S. geared towards helping Managed Service Providers (MSPs) to grow their businesses, offer additional services, help their customers transition to the cloud, and increase monthly recurring revenue opportunities. All nine summits offer a similar agenda to ensure that attendees receive the same valued information no matter which event they attend. Here’s our recap:

Notes from the Conference Floor

opening speaker Lamar Curtis (2).jpgASCII kicked off on Wednesday with a networking breakfast with about 200 member and non-members in attendance. After breakfast attendees headed to the first presentation of the day, “Lessons From the Field: Hurricane Harvey – What MSPs May Overlook in their Business Continuity Planning". This compelling presentation from Lamar Curtis, President of IAG Business Technology, gave attendees a snapshot of the loss of revenue suffered by companies large and small that were not prepared for disaster. Having been on the ground for Hurricane Harvey, Curtis saw firsthand the devastation and the strain this put on businesses. He detailed out the processes that need to be implemented including notification of employees and "are you safe" communications, as well as how to create opportunities to offer resources to your community and your clients. After a day full of educational presentations for MSP’s, channel partners, and VAR’s the night concluded with a mixer for ASCII Members, non-Members, and event sponsors.

Day two opened with presentations from event sponsors and vendors, and broke mid-day for a vendor showcase for the 38 vendors in attendance including ImagIT. During the vendor showcase ImagIT had multiple contacts discussing the needs for outsourced IT “Smart Hands” for the MSP market. We spoke with MSP’s both large and small, and identified multiple opportunities based on region and skillset of the MSP’s in attendance. Day two closed with the keynote from Therese Payton, former Whitehouse CIO and star of Hunted, who spoke about cybersecurity and how small businesses are at the greatest risk for ransomware and other security threats.

Networking Opportunities

ASCII offers multiple networking opportunities including an opening day breakfast and evening mixer. After the official events, many of the sponsor and attendees enjoyed a night out with dinner and drinks at Downtown Disney. Thursday opened with a networking breakfast and multiple breaks throughout the day including the Vendor Showcase. ImagIT was able to have several good conversations with attendees and we also continue to grow our relationship with the ASCII team.
